TL;DR

Lake Travis ISD Board President Erin Archer is overseeing a legal case involving Coach Hank Carter, the district’s Athletic Director—while her own company was paying him. Emails reveal Carter received a 1099 tied to Archer’s private sports company, Player 2 Player. Meanwhile, LTISD is dragging its feet on a lawsuit involving Carter. The conflict? Blatant. The accountability? Nonexistent.

Full Story:

Lake Travis ISD isn’t just protecting the coach—they’re protecting the people who protect him.

Meet Erin Archer, President of the LTISD School Board, founder or benefactor of Player 2 Player, and now, the center of a growing scandal involving conflicts of interest, public facilities, and taxpayer-funded perks for private gain.

A parent lawsuit alleging gross negligence in a football-related peanut allergy incident names Hank Carter, the state’s highest paid Football Coach. It’s a serious case—one that could lead to significant liability for the district. And who is leading the board overseeing this legal mess?

Erin Archer.

Except here’s the twist: Archer’s name popped up again—on Coach Carter’s 1099.

When parents filed a public records request related to Archer’s Player 2 Player company, they didn’t get documents on the company. They got a 1099 for Hank Jason Carter. The implication? He was on her company’s payroll—while she presided over a board deciding whether he faced consequences.

Instead of recusing herself, Archer dug in. She’s actively participated in legal strategy meetings related to the lawsuit and refused to remove herself from the proceedings. That’s a glaring violation of basic ethics, and potentially, legal standards of governance.

But it gets worse.

Player 2 Player appears to have access to LTISD athletic facilities, possibly under deals approved—or at least not blocked—by Carter. The public pays for these buildings. Archer’s company profits from them. And now a shiny new gym, funded by a bond her family donated towards, could become the cherry on top of a private sports empire built on public funds.

So let’s recap:

  • Erin Archer → President of LTISD Board
  • Hank Carter → Named in a lawsuit for negligence
  • Archer’s company → Paid Carter, received his 1099
  • Archer → Refuses to recuse herself
  • District → Stalling lawsuit
  • Player 2 Player → Using public gyms for private profit
  • Taxpayers → Footing the bill

If the board won’t hold itself accountable, who will?

Parents and taxpayers deserve better.

We’ll keep the receipts coming.
